Coffin-bearing activists protest planned introduction of N5,000 (Punch)
The planned introduction of N5,000 note by the Central Bank of Nigeria received further knocks on Monday as rights activists carried coffin round Agege area of Lagos to protest the policy.
The activists from Concerned Human Rights Nigeria, Civil Societies for Good Governance, Joint Action Front, United Action for Democracy, Gani Fawehinmi Foundation, United Middle Belt Youth Congress, among others, said the coffin signified the rejection and death of the policy.

It was a bloody Sunday in Lagos on September 9th, 2012 when a spate of robbery attacks across the state left seven people dead including three policemen and one commercial bus driver.
The robbery attacks took place in different parts of the state - Agege, Anthony, Gbagada, Ojodu, Itire, Ikeja, Surulere and Ilasamaja areas leaving people dead and injured. (Read my own personal experience HERE)
While Lagosians are still reeling from the shock of the attacks, the Inspector-General of Police, Muhammed Abubakar, on Monday reacted to the attacks.
He ordered the policemen attached to Lagos State Police Command to wake up from their “slumber” and ensure security and safety in the state.
