Militants invade Igbinedion varsity, machete students, vandalise vehicle

A group of violent youths suspected to be Niger-Delta ex-militants this morning, invaded the Igbinedion University, Okada, Benin City, destroying school's properties and macheting every student in sight.

According to reports reaching us, the said militants invaded school about 5am and they are still there at the time of filing this report.

An eye witness who pleaded anonymity told Vanguard that the violent youths were "destroying cars, macheting people, shooting sporadically and have injured several students while many are feared to have been kidnapped. They have also blocked the main gate of the school so no one can come in or go out

"There's a lot of chaos in the school right now and the students are all scared as the militants have gained access into one of the girls hostel", our source stated.

Effort to know the reason for the invasion has not yielded any success.

Davido set to launch album on the 22nd of July.

Dami Duro singer, Davido, is set to launch his long awaited album titled "Omo Baba Olowo" (O.B.O).

O.B.O which already has three singles enjoying massive airplay nationwide will be launched on the 22nd of July at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.

Artistes billed to perform at the album launch alongside Davido are Wizkid, 2face, Naeto C, May D, Ice Prince and KSwitch.

According to reports, the event will be powered by Flytime and HKN Records. It would be recalled that Flytime were also responsible for P-Square's "Invasion" album launch.

CIVIL STRIFE IN KADUNA STATE FOLLOWING SUCIDE BOMBINGS.

There is palpable tension ongoing in Kaduna state now.

This situation is the fallout of suicide attacks launched by yet to be identified religious bigots against christian worshippers at two different centres in the state.

The social crisis had thrown the state into confusion and yet to be confirmed reprisal attacks being carried out across the state.

Contact within security circles confirmed that government had deployed its personnel to the flash points to quell the upheaval immediately.

With the prevailing security uncertainty, people are advised to exercise utmost discretion while in the state.

Catholic and ECWA churches bombed in Zaria. Suicide bomber dressed like a woman.

Suicide bombers attacked two churches in Zaria this morning according to eyewitnesses.

A church member of the ECWA church in Wusasa area of Zaria told Saharareporters that there is ongoing gunfight between the police and unidentified gunmen on the scene of the second suicide attack on the  premises of the CKC church on Yoruba Road in Sabon Gari area of the old city.

SaharaReporters sources in Zaria said that the attacks were carried out by suicide bombers driving bomb-rigged cars. Several witnesses said the bombings appear coordinated and happened almost at the same time in both locations.

The ECWA bomber reportedly dressed like a woman. 

Sabon Gari and Wasasa area are predominantly occupied by Christians in Zaria.

A second round of church bombings has occurred in Kaduna city in the Tirkaniya area.

A Shalom church was bombed a few hours after two churches were bombed in Zaria.

Kidnappers release Uduaghan’s 70-yr-old cousin

Pa Samuel Udughan the 70-year old cousin to Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State who was kidnapped in his home on DLA road Asaba two days ago has been released by kidnappers.

The old man was sighted at the Delta state police headquarters yesterday evening giving a statement to the police about his ordeal.

It is not known if any ransom was paid to his abductors to secure his release.

The police public relations officer in Delta state  Charles Mouka did not immediately return calls to confirm Pa Udughan's release
