Woman sent into Kirikiri for forcing a 13 year old into prostitution

A 30-year old woman, Toyin Akinmola, has been sent to the Kirikiri prisons in Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria after she was accused of forcing a 13-year girl into prostitution.


The girl, whose identity is concealed confessed that she was brought from Ondo State to Lagos by Toyin and forced into prostitution.

She further confessed to the police at  Abattoir, Agege area of the state, after she was rescued, that she was made to sleep with at least eight men everyday by the woman who was supposed to be her guardian in Lagos.

P.M.NEWS learnt that Toyin had visited the girl’s parents at Okesariwo Street, Ondo State and pleaded with them to allow her bring the girl to Lagos so that the girl could assist her in her shop after school hours.
It was further learrnt that the parents of the JSS 1 student  released the girl to her with a warning that she must take good care of the girl.

On getting to Lagos, Toyin allegedly took the victim to Abattoir Railway Line where she lives in a makeshift house and forced her into prostitution.

During interrogation by the police, the girl disclosed that whenever she did not finish two packs of condoms a night, she would be denied food by Toyin.

She said as a result, she was forced to sleep with at least eight men each night, adding that she got N500 for a round of sex.

She told the police that her customers were mostly Hausa men at the Abattoir and that whenever she wanted to shout, the men would cover her mouth.

The police arrested Toyin after they got a tip-off. They also rescued the little girl.
Toyin was later charged to court on a one-count charge.

She pleaded not guilty and was granted bail by the Magistrate, Mr. A.O. Komolafe, in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum and the sureties must deposit the amount in the Chief Registrar’s account.
She was however ordered to be remanded at the Kirikiri Prison when she could not meet the bail conditions. The case has been adjourned till 2 July, 2012.
